connecting WITH BBYO teens IN BALTIMORE!

Lost Tribe (that’s us!) has a big presence at BBYO’s International Convention in Baltimore — and it’s been an amazing experience.

The convention gathered 2,600 teens from 70 countries, many of them flooding Lost Tribe’s lounge & arena to check out our Virtual Reality games and compete in our first-ever BBYO Global Gaming World Cup events. We also held tournaments, a drawing contest, and even gave attendees our very own minted NFT commemorating IC 2022.

BBYO invited us to assemble a Leads Day panel on careers in esports. I was on it! I was joined by Lost Tribe’s director of gaming, Jake Laumann; Andrew McNeill, director of esports at Monumental Sports, the company that owns the Washington Capitals and Wizards; and Nick Schiner, chief learning officer of the Coalition of Parents in Esports (COPE). Our session attracted the maximum number of teen attendees (48), who broke into small groups for learning sessions with each of the esports pros, following the panel discussion.

While gaming and new media helped Lost Tribe stand out, what truly made our presence special was the sense of community in our space. There is something honestly magical about thousands of teens from all over the world coming together after two years of virtual meet-ups. Many of the teenagers who came into the Lost Tribe gaming lounge came up to us and excitedly told us they’d watched our streamers, seen our TikToks, and even got our emails.

The Lost Tribe lounge & arena was an ideal place for teens to get together and hang out with friends old and new. It was truly an in-person extension of what we’ve accomplished for the past few years. Lost Tribe has become a safe, fun, and authentic place for gamers, geeks, nerds, and teens of all description to hang out.

This is where you can be yourself, meet Jewish teens from all over the world, and bond over gaming challenges, podcasts, and celebrations, as well as around shared Jewish heritage. This is where everyone belongs.
